SUSTAINABILITY

The original logo illustration was rendered by hand, then painted with a blue watercolour wash as a nod to the brand’s indigo roots. The result is a unique artwork that combines craft and technology. The scissor is also a metaphor for the DENHAM team spirit, with the two blades working together for a more exceptional result.

OUR SUSTAINABLE DENIM TRUTH

There are no strict guidelines when it comes to sustainability. But we strive to do our utmost best to inform, educate and inspire you, our customer, with our products.

We believe that good design should always be considerate towards its community, use of materials and its overall impact, which is why we are working on sharing more of our sustainability journey.

Sustainability has been interwoven into our brand values since day one. From offering life-long repairs on our denim to reusing vintage materials and washing our jeans by hand, we have always believed in being an eco-conscious company, because the truth is in the details. But now it’s time for us to take the next step, as we continue to grow.

We are DENHAM. Obsessed with making premium quality denim, in the best way possible. The Truth is in the Details.

JASON DENHAM
MISSION STATEMENT: SUSTAINABILITY

I believe that creating high-quality products that last a lifetime is the most sustainable thing you can do as a fashion brand. From the very beginning of DENHAM, we sought to make beautiful garments that last, using the best materials and processes possible, with the least impact on the environment. For the past 10 years, we have always put great, responsible design at the heart of everything we do, from our garments to production and our stores, down to the smallest details.

But we were never very loud about sustainability because it just came naturally to us. From the eco-friendly fabrics we use, made with less water and chemicals, to using new innovative technologies like laser machines and ozone, to our unique repair and hand-washing services, we can proudly say that sustainability is a part of DENHAM core values. Today we realise the importance of continuing our eco-conscious journey by working as sustainable as possible, now more than ever.

SERVICE / CONSUMPTION & WASTE

We service your jeans for life, that is a promise. We strongly believe the longer you wear a pair of our jeans, the better they get. DENHAM jeans only improve with time – which is why we want them to have a full life, just like their owners. What’s more, when you buy a pair of DENHAM jeans, you’re not just getting a high-quality, sustainable garment. You become part of the DENHAM community, which looks after each other and all the products we make.

As a conscious brand, we strive to educate and help our customers be the most sustainable they can be. That is why we offer an array of services, ranging from free repairs on jeans, hand-washing and our new denim recycling scheme. We are invested in making a conscious difference, not only in the garment industry but for you, our customers as well.

SALVAGE / LANDFILL

As we continue to create our own guidelines for sustainability, we take a closer look at good design. To us, good design should be thoughtful, sustainable as well as responsible. Which is why we believe in using design techniques like upcycling, using recuts as well as virgin, vintage and eco-friendly fabrics whenever possible.

By reusing existing fabrics, rather than making new fabrics we are using less natural resources, less water, less chemicals and less energy to make our collections. At the same time we are repurposing materials that would have been sent to landfill, cutting down on waste and making new, beautiful garments that have a long-life span. This also ensures that the garments we make are unique, as each fabric has its own story, its own history from what it was to what we remake it into.
